Healthcare workers join union – UFCW 175

Perth, Ont. – June 5, 2025 – UFCW Local 175 has welcomed 60 new members as workers at Carolina Retirement Home in Perth have voted to join the union.
“Healthcare workers unionize for several key reasons and are mainly to do with the desire to protect both themselves and the quality of care they provide,” said UFCW 175 President Kelly Tosato.
These newest members are employed as PSWs, RPNs, RNs, housekeepers, service workers and kitchen staff. Key concerns were respect, fairness, scheduling, safety procedures and protocols. They have joined the growing Health, Office & Professional Employees (HOPE) Sector of UFCW Local 175.
