When an NDF unit takes labour action, Scabby and Greedy are right there on the picket line with members, looming 15 feet above the crowd.

Who is Scabby the Rat?

Scabby the Rat has been an iconic fixture on union picket lines in North America for decades: as giant inflatable rat with a glowering expression, he packs a punch on the picket line. Scabby sends a strong message to any employer: no scabs allowed here.

Who is Greedy Pig?

Sending a direct message to the bosses, Greedy Pig is decked out in a top hat and suit, with a fancy watch and a cigar. Greedy Pig targets corporate greed and fat cats.  

In recent years, UFCW Canada’s very own Greedy Pig and Scabby the Rat have joined picket lines in Saskatchewan, Ontario, and more, grabbing the attention of public and employers alike. Employers hate it when Scabby and Greedy Pig join the picket line.

Scabby the Rat and Greedy Pig are giant symbols of solidarity: these inflatables are available to NDF units on strike or lockdown.
