Workers at Fairmont Manoir Richelieu join UFCW 501

Workers at Fairmont Manoir Richelieu join UFCW 501

Quebec (Que.) – September 21, 2025 — UFCW Local 501 is very proud to announce that nearly 130 employees of Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu are now represented by our union.

This certification, granted by the Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) on September 15, follows a raiding campaign conducted during the open period. Affiliated with the CSN since 2004, the members of this bargaining unit chose to entrust the negotiation of their working conditions to UFCW Local 501. A clear majority of signed membership cards enabled the filing of a certification application on August 4, which led to a favorable decision by the TAT officially confirming our status as the new union representing these workers.

"This is a significant victory for our organization. Workers at Fairmont Manoir Richelieu will now be able to count on the strength of a large union recognized for its expertise in the hotel industry. This is a sector we know well, as UFCW is already firmly represented in several establishments across Quebec. This new certification once again demonstrates the trust placed in UFCW Local 501 and confirms our role as an influential and committed union for employees in the hotel sector," said Daniel Nadeau, Eastern Quebec Director for UFCW Local 501.

The members of this new bargaining unit hold a variety of positions, including bellboy, seamstress, housekeeping attendant, room attendant, reception attendant, royal service attendant, technical services attendant, and multisport activities attendant.

With approximately 19,000 members in more than 410 units, UFCW Local 501 is part of the largest French-speaking food and commercial workers union in Quebec and also represents members in northern New Brunswick. Our larger organization has more than 55,000 members in Quebec, 255,000 in Canada, and over 1.3 million in North America. Our members work in all areas of the food and commerce industry, as well as in other fields such as service, processing, manufacturing, and technical and vocational jobs.
