Driver returns to work after UFCW Canada helps resolve Uber deactivation
Toronto – December 15, 2025 – Samir A. is back on the road and back to earning, thanks to UFCW Canada’s support after his Uber account was wrongfully deactivated due to a document issue.
In September 2025, Samir suddenly lost access to his Uber account—a shutdown triggered by what the platform flagged as a documentation problem. The abrupt deactivation left him facing uncertainty and frustration, with no clear path to get his work restored.
Looking for help, Samir reached out to UFCW Canada. Through the union’s agreement with Uber Canada, drivers and delivery people like Samir have access to representation services that assist with account deactivations, licensing concerns, background checks, and other platform-related issues.
UFCW Canada took on Samir’s case, advocated on his behalf, and worked to ensure the error was corrected. Before long, his account was reinstated and he was able to return to earning.
“UFCW Canada stood by me when I needed it most. Their support turned a moment of confusion into a victory for fairness,” says Samir. “I’m proud to be back on the road—and even prouder to have had UFCW in my corner.”
Samir says he’s sharing his experience so that other drivers and delivery people know they don’t have to navigate these challenges alone. “Their support was professional, compassionate, and effective,” he adds.
