UFCW Canada’s Young Workers Internship Program returns in 2026

Toronto – January 26, 2026 – UFCW Canada’s Young Workers Internship Program (YIP) returns in 2026, continuing its legacy as one of the country’s most impactful training and leadership development initiatives for young union activists.
YIP brings together young UFCW Canada members from across the country for an intensive, week-long experience designed to educate, inspire, and empower the next generation of labour leaders. Participants take part in engaging workshops, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities that explore the foundations of the labour movement while building real-world skills they can use in their workplaces and communities.
Throughout the program, young workers dive into key topics such as labour history, collective bargaining, workers’ rights, organizing, and political action.
Since its launch in 2000, the UFCW Canada Young Workers Internship Program has played a vital role in connecting young members, strengthening solidarity, and ensuring the labour movement continues to grow and evolve. YIP creates space for young workers to share experiences, build confidence, and develop the tools needed to stand up for fairness, dignity, and respect on the job.
The 2026 YIP sessions will take place across the country, making it accessible to young members in every region:
Atlantic Region (N.B., N.L., P.E.I. & N.S.): May 3–8 in Moncton, N.B.
Ontario: May 31–June 5 in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.
Prairie Region (Man. & Sask.): July 12–17 in Saskatoon, Sask.
Western Region (B.C. & Alta.): August 9–14 in Calgary, Alta.
Quebec (SAJ): August 9–14 in Saint-Sauveur, Que.
