Transportation members at Tok Performance ratify new contract – UFCW 1006A

Richmond Hill, Ont. – February 23, 2026 – UFCW 1006A members working as bus mechanics at Tok Performance in Richmond Hill have voted to ratify a new five-year collective agreement.

The new contract, which runs from October 1, 2025 to October 1, 2030, covers nearly 60 skilled trades members who help keep buses on the road and public transit running safely and reliably across York Region.

“UFCW 1006A negotiators are highly skilled and experienced. With the support of the membership, they continue to achieve strong contracts for our members working in public transit across Ontario,” said UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “Congratulations to our members at Tok Performance on their new union contract.”

Tok Transit and Performance are contracted to operate York Region Transit (YRT) services throughout York Region, and UFCW 1006A members play a critical role in maintaining the fleet that thousands of residents rely on every day.

Highlights of the new agreement include:

  • Wage increases totaling 21.5 per cent over five years
  • Improvements to sick leave language
  • Enhancements to the RRSP pension plan
  • Improvements to benefits coverage
  • Increases to the tool allowance
