Members at Home Hardware achieve new contract – UFCW 175
Gananoque, Ont. – March 6, 2026 – UFCW Local 175 members working at Home Hardware in Gananoque, Ontario have achieved a new collective agreement bringing wage increases, and more.
Home Hardware is a Canadian-owned home improvement retail chain that operates hundreds of independently owned stores in communities across the country.
Wages were the top priority for members during this round of bargaining. Under the new agreement, members will see wage increases ranging from 3.5 per cent to 7.76 per cent in the first year, depending on their classification and rate progression. In year two, members at all rates and progressions will receive a 4 per cent increase, followed by another 4 per cent increase in year three. Over the life of the agreement, this represents total wage gains of between 11.5 per cent and 15.76 per cent.
In addition to the wage improvements, members will receive a $100 signing bonus following ratification.
The new contract also strengthens financial supports. The safety boot allowance will increase by 50 per cent to $300 per contract year, helping members offset the cost of essential protective equipment. The employer has also agreed to increase contributions to the UFCW Local 175 Training and Education Fund to $300 per year, up from $200, supporting members’ ongoing development and skills training.
