Retail workers at Buropro achieve first contract – UFCW 1991-P
Drummondville, Que. – April 7, 2026 – UFCW Local 1991-P members working at Buropro in Drummondville, Quebec have achieved their first collective agreement.
The new three-year agreement provides a 4% annual wage increase, improvements to the group insurance plan – including a 50/50 cost-sharing arrangement in 2028, and increase to flexible time off. Members will now be covered by the UFCW dental plan, fully paid for by the employer.
The agreement also improves vacation benefits based on years of service. After 15 years, workers can receive 4 or 5 weeks of vacation with an 8% or 10% vacation pay. After 25 years, they can receive 5 or 6 weeks of vacation with 10% vacation pay. Existing benefits have been maintained and are now formally included in the agreement.
“This first agreement is an important milestone for members working at Buropro,” said Janick Vallières, President of UFCW Local 1991-P. “They now have a clear, union-negotiated contract that sets out their working conditions and protections. This reflects their hard work and determination since joining the union.”
Buropro is an office supply company, and union members work in roles such as cashiers, warehouse clerks, sales advisors, and shipping and receiving. This agreement now clearly sets out all working conditions, including seniority, schedules, time off, vacation, and how disputes are handled.
UFCW Local 1991-P represents more than 6,500 members across nearly 80 workplaces and is part of the largest food and retail union in Quebec. Across the province, UFCW represents over 55,000 members, more than 255,000 across Canada, and over 1.2 million across North America. Members work in food and retail, as well as in service, manufacturing, processing, and technical and professional jobs.
