Members at Cargill Brampton ratify new collective agreement – UFCW 175
Brampton, Ont. – July 30, 2026 – UFCW Local 175 members working at Cargill Limited in Brampton, Ontario have ratified a new collective agreement that delivers wage increases, improved premiums and benefits, and stronger workplace protections.
Following a challenging round of negotiations in which the employer proposed concessions, the UFCW Local 175 Negotiating Committee worked with a conciliator to reach an agreement that members ultimately approved.
As part of the new contract, members will receive a $1,000 signing bonus, while wage rates will increase by a total of $3.00 per hour over the life of the agreement. The Lead Hand premium also increases to $2.00 per hour, up from $1.50.
The agreement also includes improvements to allowances and benefits. The meal allowance for employees working more than two hours beyond their scheduled shift increases to $20, up from $14, and part-time members are now eligible for a boot allowance.
Health benefits have also been enhanced, with vision care increasing to $450 every 24 months, up from $400. Survivor coverage for spouses and eligible dependents has been extended to 12 months at no cost to the employee, and members will now receive a second annual floater day.
The new collective agreement also strengthens workplace language by extending recall rights to 24 months for employees laid off in April 2025, doubling the previous 12-month period. In addition, pre-approved partial-day absences will no longer count toward emergency day usage.
The collective agreement covers more than 60 full-time and part-time members at the Cargill Brampton facility.
