From Canadian workers to school lunchboxes – Shop union-made this school year

Toronto – September 3, 2026 – As we get set for a new school year, families across Canada are getting back into the routine of packing lunches, preparing snacks, and figuring out what to put on the dinner table after a busy day.
As families head back to the grocery store, choosing union-made foods is one way to support the Canadian workers who help put food on our tables every day.
That support is especially important as Canada continues to deal with a trade war with the United States. The decisions we make as consumers can have an impact on workers and communities here at home. Buying Canadian and choosing union-made products helps support the people working across Canada’s food supply chain.
UFCW Canada members work throughout that supply chain — from farms and food processing plants to bakeries, manufacturing facilities, and grocery stores. They grow, produce, package, prepare, and sell many of the foods that families rely on every day.
There are plenty of UFCW-made options to add to school lunches and snacks. For sandwiches, families can choose breads from Bon Matin, Country Harvest, Villaggio, and POM. Add some fresh produce from UFCW-represented growers, including Arctic Gardens vegetables, Highline mushrooms, and Gen V lettuce.
For a sweet treat, there are plenty of options, including Cadbury Dairy Milk, Brookside chocolates, La Rocca Creative Cakes, Novali cookies, and Martin desserts. Kids can also enjoy familiar snacks such as Old Dutch and Covered Bridge potato chips, along with PC Decadent Chocolate Chip Cookies.
For breakfast and dairy, UFCW members help produce Burnbrae eggs, Liberté yogurt, Natrel cheese, and Lactantia butter.
And when there isn't much time to make dinner after a long school day, union-made options include Primo pasta, Cavendish Farms potato and vegetable products, McCain Pizza Pockets, Pillsbury Pizza Pops, and Janes chicken strips.
The next time you're shopping for school lunches, snacks, or dinner, take a look at where your food comes from. Choosing union-made products is a simple way to recognize the workers behind the food we buy and help keep good jobs in communities across Canada.
This school year, put union-made foods in your lunchbox and support the Canadian workers who help feed our families.
