Pride Week is here

Toronto – June 26, 2014 – Pride Week is finally here. UFCW Canada has worked hard towards a tremendous show of solidarity and celebration, and would like to share our plans about the various activities that our union will be participating in throughout the week — culminating in what is expected to be the largest Pride Parade ever held in North America.

While we encourage members, staff, and allies to continuously check all updates on UFCW Canada's Pride participation at www.ufcw.ca/pride, we would also like to announce the following meeting locations for the UFCW Canada Streetfair booth, Trans March, Dyke March, and Annual Pride Parade.

UFCW Canada Streetfair booth

Location – Isabella Street (between Church Street and Yonge Street)

Hours of Operation:

Friday, June 27, 2014, 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, June 28, 2014, 11:30 p.m. – 7:30 PM

Sunday, June 29, 2014, 11:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Trans Pride Rally and March

June 27, 2014

Meeting Location: UFCW Streetfair Booth, Isabella Street, 6:30 p.m.

Starting Location: North Stage, Intersection of Church Street and Isabella Street

Ending Location: Yonge-Dundas Square

Time: 7 p.m. Rally followed by 8 p.m. March

Celebrate OUR UFCW Canada Pride

June 28, 2014 

On June 28, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., join UFCW Canada representatives, community organizations, and allies for a special UFCW event, "Celebrate OUR UFCW Canada Pride." Details are as follows:

Location: Sheraton Centre Hotel (123 Queen Street West)

Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The event will feature a labour–themed Art Showcase; political dignitaries including Mariela Castro from Cuba; music provided by a local DJ; opportunities for networking; raffles, greetings, and much more.  

Please note: a marching contingent will leave the Sheraton event at 12:15 p.m., and will head to the starting point of the Dyke March at Allen Gardens.

Dyke Rally and March

June 28, 2014

Meeting Location: Departure from UFCW Canada Streetfair Booth on Isabella Street at 12:30 p.m.

Parade starting Location: Allan Gardens, 19 Horticultural Avenue

Time: 1 p.m. Rally followed by 2 p.m. March

Ending Location: George Hislop Parkette

Annual Pride Parade

June 29, 2014 

Meeting Location:  Departure from UFCW Canada Streetfair Booth on Isabella Street at 12:30 p.m.

Parade starting Location: Ted Rogers Way and Bloor Street

Time: 1 p.m. Parade begins

Ending Location: Yonge-Dundas Square
