Renowned Cuban Activist prepares to Celebrate #MyUFCWPride

Toronto – June 26, 2014 – UFCW Canada is excited to welcome Mariela Castro, a renowned human rights activist from Cuba, to World Pride 2014. Mariela is one of many honoured guests participating in the labour-themed LGBT Pride showcase – Come and Celebrate Your UFCW Pride – happening this Saturday, June 28 in the Sheraton Centre Hotel at 123 Queen Street West in downtown Toronto.

As part of World Pride 2014, Canada’s leading union is teaming up with the Mayworks Festival of Working People and the Arts for the free drop-in extravaganza. Everyone is welcome to drop by between 10AM and 4PM on Saturday and enjoy live music, unique art installations, free food and refreshments, and a chance to win prizes including an iPad. Members of UFCW’s OUTreach group from Canada and the United States will also join the festivities. Through solidarity and joint advocacy work, OUTreach works to strengthen support for LGBT communities throughout North America.
