UFCW Canada and Moccasin Identifier unveil mural in recognition of Treaties Recognition Week

Toronto – November 4, 2025 – UFCW Canada and Moccasin Identifier unveiled a new mural by Anishnawbe artist Philip Cote, Return of the Sacred. This work was commissioned by UFCW Canada, in partnership with Moccasin Identifier, as part of the union’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation, Indigenous advocacy, and treaty recognition. The mural will be a permanent installation at UFCW Canada’s headquarters.

November – Freezing Moon (UFCW Indigenous Calendar)

Toronto – October 29, 2025 – As the air grows crisp and frost begins to settle on the land, we welcome the Freezing Moon (Mshkawji Giizis).

October – Falling Leaves Moon (UFCW Indigenous Calendar)

Toronto – October 1, 2025 – As autumn deepens and the trees release their leaves back to the earth, we welcome the Falling Leaves Moon.

Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – September 30

Toronto – September 30, 2025 – On September 30, UFCW Canada joins people across the country in observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the thousands of Indigenous children who never made it home. It is also a time to reflect on the intergenerational trauma caused by colonial policies and to commit ourselves to the ongoing work of reconciliation.
