Toronto – December 16, 2013 – International Migrants Day – December 18, annually commemorates the adoption of the International Convention on the Protection of Rights of All Migrant Workers and their Families by the United Nations on December 18, 1990. In this upcoming holiday season, migrant workers can only hope that their ability to access to Employment Insurance (EI) special benefits is restored in Canada.
Vancouver – December 12, 2013 – Activists, artists, authors, poets, friends, family, and community members recently gathered at Vancouver's Central Library for the launch of a new bilingual anthology which explores issues of identity, eroticism, resistance, humour and fate.

Guerrero, Mexico – November 27, 2013 – Last September, two powerful tropical storms hit the Pacific and Atlantic coast of Mexico, leaving behind an unspeakable amount of destruction. The state of Guerrero was particularly hit. The storms took away 40 years' worth of infrastructure in the region.
Ottawa – November 22, 2013 – Canada’s leading union and advocate for migrant workers is celebrating a November 19 decision by the Federal Court of Appeal that sides with more than one hundred seasonal farm workers, and active members of the Agriculture Workers Alliance (AWA), who were wrongly denied Employment Insurance parental benefits.
Mexico City – November 13, 2013 – UFCW Canada recently joined Mexican officials from the federal, state and municipal level, as well as human rights institutions, academics and civil society organizations for the National Forum on Migration, Health and Human Rights organized by the Mexican Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and the National Institute for Public Health (INSP).
