Leading unions in Canada and Mexico renew commitment, combined efforts in advancing migrant worker rights

Ciudad Victoria, Mexico – August 30, 2013 – Leaders from Canada and Mexico’s leading labour unions – UFCW Canada and the National Farm workers Confederation (CNC) – have renewed their joint commitment to advancing the rights and working conditions of migrant workers.

100 Years of Solidarity CD Renews Labour Songs Legacy

Toronto – August 27, 2013 – UFCW Canada, the leading voice for workers in Canada, has released 100 YEARS OF SOLIDARITY — a new CD compilation of labour songs written and performed by a new generation of Canadian artists and labour activists. UFCW Canada (United Food and Commercial Workers union) is the country largest and most progressive private-sector union, with over 250,000 members working from coast to coast.

New webCampus certificate program: Human Rights Advocate

Toronto – August 22, 2013 – UFCW Canada's groundbreaking education and training program, webCampus, is excited to offer a free new certification program beginning this fall. The 150-hour Human Rights Advocate Certificate program prepares students to better understand human rights laws, as well as minorities and equity-seeking groups.

CNC solidarity with UFCW strengthened at 7th Regular Convention

Chicago – August 21, 2013 – The leader of Mexico's National Farm Workers' Confederation (CNC) recently led a delegation to the UFCW 7th Regular Convention in Chicago to discuss the issues of Mexican migrant workers and immigration in Canada and the United States with UFCW brothers and sisters, labour leaders and government officials — including NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair who was a keynote speaker at the convention.
