Loblaw Granby members achieve new contract – UFCW 500
Montreal – September 15, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 500 members at the Loblaw supermarket in Granby have achieved a new collective agreement. The new agreement was overwhelmingly ratified by the membership and runs until 2021.
The new collective agreement provides many improvements including:
- Payroll increases of 2% at the top of the wage scales, retroactive to February 2014 for eligible workers;
- A premium of $0.60 an hour for workers who work in positions ranked above their own for four hours instead of six hours;
- A night premium of $1.00 per hour;
- A new premium of $0.50 an hour for the SAP operations manager;
- Three weeks of vacation after four years instead of five;
- Four weeks of vacation after eight years instead of 10;
- A contribution of $0.60 per hour worked to the Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan for all eligible workers, which, during the course of the collective agreement, will rise to $0.75;
- A possibility of increasing the contribution to the Régime de soins dentaires des membres des TUAC du Québec (‘‘UFCW dental plan for members in Quebec’’) to $0.19 per hour worked if the basic contribution becomes inadequate;
- Commitment from the employer to posting two regular positions within 30 days of signing.
