Peel Multicultural Council thanks webCampus

UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking webCampus program is earning the praise of community partners and newcomers in the Greater Toronto Area.

The UFCW Canada webCampus is the largest online labour database of courses in North America, with hundreds of courses currently available.

“I do not have words to define how grateful my organization, PMC, is to UFCW Canada for the support in educating many newcomers and their family without any cost,” writes Shivani Parshad in a thank you message recently received by the webCampus team. Shivani is an employment facilitator with the Peel Mulitcultural Council, a long-standing community organization that services over 150 groups, agencies and institutions in Mississauga and Brampton by helping recent immigrants to adjust to their new lives in Canada.

“Courses such as HR Advocate, Pharmacy Assistant, and Health and Safety are quite useful for foreign trained professionals in regulated fields such as human resources, pharmacy and health and safety, respectively,” adds Shivani. “Please accept my appreciation on behalf of PMC management, staff and clients in joining the hands with Peel Multicultural Council, PMC to serve the community.”

As a key part of UFCW Canada’s commitment to continuing to strengthen relationships with diverse communities, admission to webCampus is offered to many of the union’s close allies and community partners.

“In addition to being accessible to our 250,000 members across Canada, webCampus has become an invaluable tool in helping UFCW Canada to empower a variety of diverse and historically marginalized group of communities,” says Naveen Mehta, UFCW Canada Director of Human Rights, Equity & Diversity. “Providing meaningful support to UFCW Canada partners is key to ensuring that we all move forward together and that the union remains a substantial force in the lives of workers and their communities. webCampus is proving to be a model for that idea in action.”
