Devon Jack Fish workers vote Yes! to UFCW Canada Local 401
Conklin, Alta. – February 17, 2013 – Lodge workers at Devon Jack Fish in Northern Alberta are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 401 following a winning unionization campaign last month. The union was certified as the official bargaining agent for all Devon Jack Fish operations in Conklin, Alberta – a small oil sands community two hours south of Fort McMurray – after workers voted unanimously in favour of joining the union.
The Local Union recently completed negotiations with the employer and a collective agreement will soon be presented to the membership for ratification. The Devon Jack Fish workers are the seventh group of oil sands lodge employees to join Local 401 this year.
"We thank the workers for their support and they can rest assured that our experienced team of representatives and negotiators will deliver the same outstanding representation that we provide to all of our members," says UFCW Canada Local 401 President Douglas O'Halloran. "We also look forward to continuing what has always been a positive working relationship with this employer," he adds.
