UFCW Canada Local 401 welcomes new members at Sierra Springs Sobeys Liquor Store

Airdrie, Alta. – March 31, 2015 – Workers at the Sierra Springs Sobeys Liquor Store in Airdrie, Alberta have become new members of UFCW Canada Local 401 after voting 100% in favour of UFCW Canada representation. The vote was conducted and certified by the Alberta Labour Relations Board.

"While the landslide results of this vote have made everyone at 401 jump with excitement, the 100% result has also humbled us at the same time," said UFCW Canada Local 401 President Doug O'Halloran. "As our newest Brothers and Sisters have shown their unwavering trust by voting unanimously in favour of joining, it also speaks to the power of one voice heard in unity."

UFCW Canada Local 401 will now send the notice to bargain to the employer and will begin the negotiation process to win a fair contract for Airdrie Sobeys Liquor Store members. President Doug O'Halloran will negotiate on behalf of members with the company and will sit alongside representatives from the store's bargaining committee to ensure the voice of every worker is heard.
