Members at Shoppers Drug Mart ratify new deal – UFCW 1518
Vancouver – December 15, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1518 members working at the Shoppers Drug Mart location on Davie Street in downtown Vancouver have recently ratified a new collective agreement that brings improvements to wages, benefits, and more.
The new contract drastically reduces the amount of hours that employees have to work before obtaining dental benefits. New language has also been added to the agreement to improve workplace safety, particularly for overnight employees.
Members will also receive a signing bonus and off-scale wage increases of 25 to 30 cents per hour – dependent on the number of hours worked – in the second and third years of the agreement.
The union negotiating committee included Chrissie Watson, Byron Barrett, UFCW 1518 Union Representative Fred Scott and UFCW 1518 Executive Assistant to the President Kim Balmer.
