UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Elizabeth Lagarde
Saint-Eustache, Qué. – August 18, 2017 – Elizabeth Lagarde is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2016.
Elizabeth is currently completing her Bachelor of Industrial Relations at the Université de Montréal. Her father, Michel Lagarde, is a proud UFCW Canada Local 1991P member who works at Metro.
Elizabeth had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:
"This scholarship will relieve my financial burden and allow me to focus on my studies, and that gives me piece of mind. In addition to helping me pay my tuition fees, this major financial support has given me greater motivation to achieve my goals, complete my university degree, and eventually work in the field of labour relations."
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependents for post-secondary education. The BDM Scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
