Send Jack a Get Well Message

Jack Layton is fighting cancer now so he can fight for UFCW Canada members and all working families in September.

Join UFCW Canada activists, friends and supporters in sending Jack a Get Well Message as he begins his courageous journey to full recovery.

Brother Layton announced on July 25 that he is taking a temporary leave of absence as Leader of the New Democratic Party of Canada to focus on getting well and getting back to serving working families as soon as possible.

“I'm going to fight this cancer now, so I can be back to fight for families when Parliament resumes,” said Jack. In his full statement, Jack said he intends to be back in action by September 18 – the day Parliament reconvenes.

“Jack has always been there for the UFCW, and we want him to know that we are here for him,” says UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley. “On behalf of 250,000 UFCW Canada members from coast-to-coast, get well Jack and please know that we are keeping you, Olivia and your family in our thoughts and we are all looking forward to your full recovery.”
