SAME growing strong at Brock University

Battling the cold and the rain, thousands of students at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, recently took part in the school’s annual vendor fair.

The event – which spanned two days – entertained, informed and promoted different events, clubs, councils and aspects of student life. Prominent in this year’s fair were Students Against Migrant Exploitation, or S.A.M.E.

Members of the activist group spent the day handing out information and talking to students about why it’s so important for them to get involved in one of S.A.M.E.’s most active Chapters.

The Brock Chapter is already planning a long-list of events for the scholastic year, which include a new petition campaign, flash mob information sessions, a fundraising concert in the spring, and a number of presentations to various labour studies and political science classes. 

Jazmine Mitchell, president of S.A.M.E.’s Brock Chapter, participated in the fair and expressed her excitement for what promises to be an action-packed year. “This year we are planning some of S.A.M.E.’s biggest events to date, and we are super excited and can’t wait to engage Brock students in this amazing opportunity to do something that is making a real difference for migrant worker rights and the social justice movement.”
