End the lockout at CMP ANZCO Foods!

UFCW Canada is calling on all activists to help more than 200 New Zealand red-meat workers currently under attack by their employer.

Since last April, The New Zealand lamb processor, CMP, has carried a relentless union busting campaign against members of the New Zealand Meatworkers Union, including new contract demands for a 20% wage cut, and a longer week without overtime.

In October, the company went one step further when they locked out the workers for refusing to agree to the new terms, while admitting the company's financial difficulties are due solely to bad management. Not just bad, but vicious. The company has refused to return to the bargaining table and the intimidation continues.

The International Union of Food Workers (IUF) has set up a web-based campaign page to send a letter to CMP's parent company ANZCO Foods demanding an end to the lockout and a return to the bargaining table.

“An attack on one worker is an attack on all workers,” says UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley. “The CMP workers are the latest targets of a corporate culture that has no conscience when it comes to the lives and rights of workers. CMP must be pressured to get back to the table and negotiate."
