The new collective agreement provides many improvements including:

  • A premium of $0.60 an hour for workers who work in positions ranked above their own for four hours instead of six hours;
  • A night premium of $1.00 per hour;
  • A new premium of $0.50 an hour for the SAP operations manager;
  • Three weeks of vacation after four years instead of five;
  • Four weeks of vacation after eight years instead of 10;
  • A contribution of $0.60 per hour worked to the Canadian Commercial Workers Industry Pension Plan for all eligible workers, which, during the course of the collective agreement, will rise to $0.75;
  • A possibility of increasing the contribution to the Régime de soins dentaires des membres des TUAC du Québec (‘‘UFCW dental plan for members in Quebec’’) to $0.19 per hour worked if the basic contribution becomes inadequate;
  • Commitment from the employer to posting two regular positions within 30 days of signing.

‘‘Local 500 members in Granby achieved a very satisfactory deal as a result of these negotiations. Congratulations to all our members who played a part in getting this new collective agreement,” said Antonio Filato, President of UFCW Canada Local 500.
