Sarnia, Ont. – June 10, 2015 – UFCW Canada Local 175 is proud to welcome workers at Park Lane Chevrolet Cadillac in Sarnia, Ontario as the newest members of the Local Union.

The Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) certified the new Local 175 bargaining unit after a majority of workers recently voted "YES!" to join the union.

Park Lane Chevrolet Cadillac is now the first unionized car dealership in Sarnia.

The bargaining unit is comprised of roughly 30 members who work as service and parts technicians, mechanics, and service advisors. They joined UFCW Canada Local 175 to obtain a number of improvements to their working conditions, including better wages, job security, health benefits, and dignity and respect on the job.

As part of the organizing campaign, an OLRB-supervised settlement was put in place to ensure that the right of all employees to join the union was protected.

UFCW Canada Local 175 plans to commence bargaining with the employer very shortly.
