End the U.S. embargo against Cuba
|
Toronto – July 29, 2015 – UFCW Canada is calling on all activists and allies to add their voices to the international campaign to bring an end to the U.S. economic embargo against Cuba.
Here are the facts:
The economic embargo against Cuba has been internationally condemned since it was imposed in 1960.
In fact, it has been voted against 23 times by over 180 countries world-wide at the United Nations Assembly.
Today, 97% of the world's governments are opposed to the embargo.
The embargo has cost the Cuban economy over 1.1 trillion dollars which has severely hindered Cuba's ability to build and repair important infrastructure, obtain much needed resources, and respond to almost yearly natural catastrophes.
Recently, the American government has restored diplomatic relations with Cuba. In order for Cuba and the United States to have normalized relations, the embargo should be removed.
The embargo is cruel and unfair. Take action. Send a message to President Barack Obama that it is time to end the U.S embargo against Cuba.
