Regina, Sask. – June 28, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1400 and Local 649 activists were out in full force on June 25th at the annual Queen City Pride Parade in Regina.
Hundreds of participants banded together to celebrate and march for LGBTQ rights and equality in Saskatchewan. The parade was part of the week-long pride Queen City Pride Festival which fosters community pride and raises awareness of LGBTQ culture within the province.
The turnout for this year's parade was the largest in its history, with thousands lined along the parade route.
"We are proud to have one of the strongest showings of member-activists joining us for this very special community event," says UFCW Canada Local 1400 President Norm Neault. "Pride is a chance to show solidarity and celebrate the tremendous contributions that our sisters and brothers in the LGBTQ community make to society and our union."
As Canada's leading and most progressive union, UFCW Canada plays an important role in mobilizing members, activists, and families to participate in Pride festivals across the country. To find out more about UFCW Pride visit, ufcw.ca/pride.
