Toronto – July 5, 2016 – Workers at Cappola Food Inc. are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 175 after recently voting to join the union.

Owned by Maple Leaf Foods, Cappola Food produces an extensive array of deli and cured meat products including prosciutto, salami and stone-baked ham.

The 80 new members voted to join the union to achieve overall fairness on the job.

"These employees felt disrespected by their employer and their current wages are below industry standards," says Local 175 Organizer Linval Dixon. "Joining UFCW Canada Local 175 will give the new members better job security and improves their working conditions overall."

The union plans on bargaining with the employer shortly.
