UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Bryce Giesbrecht, UFCW 1400
Regina, Sask. – March 8, 2017 – Bryce Giesbrecht is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2016.
Currently completing his third year of the Bachelor of Science – Chemistry program at the University of Regina’s Luther College, Bryce is a proud UFCW Canada Local 1400 member who works at Real Canadian Superstore.
Brother Giesbrecht had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:
“I feel incredibly honoured to be selected as a recipient of this scholarship. Winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship is very important to me, as it will allow me to focus on my future. University is quite expensive, and it is not easy balancing full-time studies with my job in order to pay for schooling. This scholarship will shift the balance in my favour, allowing me to study and focus on my classes more. Since I am currently in my third year of Chemistry, my aim is to study Optometry at the University of Waterloo, and this scholarship puts me that much closer toward achieving my goal. Thank you UFCW Canada!”
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
The deadline to apply for the 2017 UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship is September 30, 2017. To find out more about this renowned union scholarship, or to apply online, click here.
