Wage and pension gains for Members at Canadian Linen & Uniform Service – UFCW 1006A
Vaughan, Ont. – May 6, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 1006A members working at Canadian Linen and Uniform Service have achieved increases to wages, pensions, and benefits in their latest union contract.
The new contract runs from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2020 and covers approximately 180 members.
“Member solidarity is the key to achieving fairness at the bargaining table, and we thank everyone who participated in the negotiating process,” says Wayne Hanley, the President of UFCW Canada Local 1006A.
The union negotiating committee was led by Local 1006A Executive Assistant to the President, Frank Ragni, with support from Union Representative Rob Murphy and members Isabel Rodrigues, Dave Hennigar, and Pubalan Ramiah.
Highlights of the gains achieved in this contract include:
Wage increases of 1.5 percent, 1.5 percent, 2 percent, and 2 percent in each year of the agreement, and a signing bonus of $200 on the date of ratification;
Hours paid for statutory holidays will be included in overtime pay;
Seniority will continue to be accumulated for those away from work because of illness;
Eye care coverage increases from $150 to $200;
Increases to health and welfare benefits;
An increase in the employer contribution to the employee pension plan; and
The shoe allowance will increase from $125 to $150.
