Members at Impark Toronto ratify new agreement – UFCW 175
Toronto – March 23, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Impark Toronto have ratified a new three-year collective agreement that provides wage increases, improved benefits, and more.
As part of the new contract, members will receive wage increases of 2.5 percent in each year of the agreement. In addition, the night shift premium will increase to $1.15 per hour.
To maintain current benefit levels for full-time employees, the premiums for those benefits will increase to $249, from $220, over the duration of the contract. Part-time benefit premiums will also increase to reach a rate of $59 per month by the final year of the agreement. Sick day improvements provide members with an extra day per year for a total of eight sick days.
As well, employees will receive pay for their time plus one hour’s travel time to attend grievance meetings. The employer has agreed to pay for the cost of printing copies of the collective agreement for members and will also pay a portion of the meeting room costs for negotiations.
Lastly, the Union Negotiating Committee achieved language stating that the employer will offer a buyout package to as many as five employees during the life of the contract.
Members ratified the agreement, which covers 122 employees working in Toronto, at a meeting held earlier this month. The Union Negotiating Committee consisted of UFCW Canada Local 175 members Daud Hassan, Jim Ramsey, and Senidu Woldetkle, and UFCW 175 Union Representative John Di Falco.
