Workers at Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) join the union – UFCW 102

Cambridge, Mississauga, and Whitby, Ont. – March 26, 2018 – Workers at Portable On Demand Storage (PODS) locations across Ontario are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 102 after recently voting “YES!” to joining the union.

Based in Cambridge, Mississauga, and Whitby, Ontario, the new UFCW 102 members work as truck drivers, storage workers, and maintenance employees for one of the largest moving and storage companies in North America. They joined the union to obtain better wages, regular break periods, and fairness at work.

“The PODS workers faced extremely unfair working conditions and had to overcome employer intimidation during the organizing campaign,” says Enver Harbans, the lead organizer for the campaign. “But in the end their solidarity and determination paid off, and they are now proud members of UFCW!”

"I want to congratulate and welcome the new members at PODS," says UFCW Canada Local 102 President Dominic Musitano. "By adding their voice to UFCW, the PODS members will be able to improve their working conditions and achieve a better quality of life, and we look forward to bargaining on their behalf," he adds.
