Members at CNIB achieve new contract – UFCW 1400
Regina and Saskatoon, Sask. – May 9, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 1400 members working at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) locations in Regina and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan have achieved a new contract that provides wage increases, language improvements, and more.
The CNIB provides community-based support for blind individuals, as well as programs to enhance independence, safety, and mobility after a loss of sight.
Highlights of the new four-year agreement include:

Wage increases of 2 percent in each year of the contract;

Greater notice of scheduling;

Reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a doctor’s note when a note is requested by the employer;

Expanded bereavement leave;

New language adding a “Dignity and Respect” clause;

Employer-provided cell phones for members requiring them; and
-
Expansion of the reimbursement for licenses, memberships, and courses.
