UFCW OUTreach offers member scholarships for Creating Change Conference
Washington, D.C. – October 13, 2018 – OUTreach, the UFCW constituency group for LGBTQI2S members and allies, is offering five scholarships for UFCW members to attend the 2019 Creating Change Conference in Detroit, Michigan from January 23-27. The conference is organized by the National LGBTQ Task Force, a non-profit organization that mobilizes the grassroots power of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities.
The OUTreach Scholarship covers the conference registration fee, hotel and meals, and travel costs.
Below are the OUTreach Scholarship application details and instructions. The scholarship winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
OUTreach Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements:

Applicant must be an active UFCW member.

Applicant must be able to take time off to attend the conference in its entirety.

Applicant must submit a short paragraph to address the following:
What does being a union member/activist/shop steward mean to you? Why are you interested in attending this conference, what do you hope to get from this experience? Please share an example of you standing up for yourself or others.

Applicant must forward a letter of recommendation from your Local Union President

Deadline to submit essay and letter of recommendation is November 7, 2018.
