Hospitality members at Manitoulin Hotel & Conference Centre win gainsQuebec City – March 28, 2019 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at the Montagnais Hotel in Quebec City have achieved a new union contract that provides wage increases, better benefits, and more.

The 25 hospitality members work as housekeepers at the hotel. Under their new four-year collective agreement, members will receive wage increases averaging 10 percent in the first year of the contract for staffers at the top of the wage scale. Those moving up the scale will continue receiving yearly increases of 2 percent. Members will also enjoy new dental benefits and a clean inspection bonus, the latter of which will vary with experience.

“We are very proud of the new collective agreement for members at Le Montagnais Hotel,” says Daniel Nadeau, UFCW Local 501 director for Eastern Quebec. “The bargaining team did an excellent job with this set of negotiations, and we are happy that they were able to achieve numerous gains,” he adds.

UFCW Canada Local 501 represents over 19,000 members working at 410 businesses across Quebec and northern New Brunswick. To learn more about UFCW 501 and its outstanding work, visit the Local Union’s website.
