Social service members at EPIC de St. Malo secure higher wages – UFCW 832
Saint Malo, Man. – May 21, 2020 – UFCW Local 832 members working at EPIC de St. Malo have achieved a new union contract that provides wage increases, better benefits, and more.
The social service members at EPIC de St. Malo support Manitobans with intellectual disabilities. Under their new, two-year collective agreement, members will enjoy a 3 percent wage increase over the term of the contract, as well as the following gains:
- An extra float day;
- An increase to RRSP contributions;
- Improvements to the dental plan;
- More money for education and training opportunities;
- An increase to the training premium;
- A long service premium increase; and
- A long service severance bonus.
These new benefits are retroactive to April 1, 2020.
“The members at EPIC de St. Malo work incredibly hard,” says UFCW 832 Negotiator Phil Kraychuk. “They never gave up on the negotiations, or on their rights as workers, even during these difficult times. They now have a stronger workplace because of it,” he adds.
EPIC de St. Malo / SMILE of St. Malo (Residential Services) is a non-profit organization that operates residential homes for people of all ages with intellectual disabilities.
