Fast food workers at Wendy’s Thunder Bay build a better life – UFCW 175 & 633
Thunder Bay, Ont. – July 30, 2020 – UFCW Locals 175 & 633 members working at Wendy’s in Thunder Bay have ratified a new union contract that provides new paid leave, improved vacation pay, and more.
The Union Negotiating Committee achieved a number of important improvements in this round of bargaining, which marks the first renewal agreement for the members at Wendy’s.
The number of hours needed to pass the probationary period is now 290 hours or five months, down from 320 hours or six months. Bereavement leave entitlement improves to two paid days, instead of the previous one day. Vacation pay improves to 8 percent for employees with eight years of service or more.
Wages also improve over the three-year agreement term. Every wage rate will increase by 25 cents per hour in each year of the agreement.
This collective agreement covers 29 employees at the fast food restaurant. The Union Negotiating Committee consisted of UFCW Locals 175 & 633 members Patty Collins and Charlene Ellis, along with Union Representative Tracy Stubbs. To read more about the new union contract at Wendy’s, click here.
