More retail workers at Chapters-Indigo join the union – UFCW 247
Coquitlam, B.C. – October 19, 2020 – Workers at the Chapters-Indigo location in Coquitlam, British Columbia are among the newest members of UFCW Local 247 after recently saying “Yes!” to joining the union.
Following on the heels of the recent victory for Chapters-Indigo workers to gain representation at work at Mississauga, Ontario’s Square One location, retail workers at the Chapters-Indigo store in Coquitlam’s Pinetree Village joined the fight for fairness at work.
The retail workers were supported by authors, educators from across Canada, community leaders and politicians such as Libby Davies and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, who visited the store to show his support.
“I would like to congratulate and welcome the new members at Chapters-Indigo in Coquitlam,” says UFCW 247 Organizer Johnny Khakh. “Their determination throughout the campaign has been an inspiration to so many. They led the charge on social media and made their voices heard and we look forward to negotiating a strong UFCW contract.”
Based in Surrey, B.C., UFCW Local 247 represents over 14,000 members working in the retail industry and other frontline sectors. To learn more about UFCW 247 and their outstanding work, visit their website.
