Food service members at Compass Group Canada achieve wage increases – UFCW 832
Winnipeg – October 26, 2020 – UFCW Local 832 members working at Compass Group Canada have achieved a new union contract that provides wage gains and more.
Despite the recent upheaval in the hospitality sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Compass Group members successfully ratified a new three-year collective agreement using mail-in ballots.
Highlights of the deal include 75- to 90-cent wage increases, as well as improved contract language and an additional sick day.
“In times like these, it is more important than ever to give members as much certainty as possible,” says UFCW 832 Negotiator Phil Kraychuk. “Compass Group workers and their families can now count on future wage increases and the stability that comes from having a solid agreement in place between employer and employees,” he adds.
Compass Group Canada provides food services to businesses and non-profit organizations across the country. UFCW Local 832 represents members at the Boeing location in Winnipeg, who monitor inventory and order, prepare, and cook food for the company’s cafeteria service.
