Cinema workers at Cineplex Richmond join the union – UFCW 1518

Richmond, B.C. – January 28, 2022 – Workers at the Cineplex Richmond are the newest members to join UFCW 1518 after voting overwhelmingly in support of unionization.

“The young workers at Cineplex Richmond inspired us with their solidarity,” says UFCW 1518 President Kim Novak. “These workers have delt with nearly two-years of uncertainty, as Cineplex closed and reopened with various restrictions. They showed what the collective power of workers can accomplish, even in precarious workplaces.”

The workers organized to build a better, more equitable workplace and join Cineplex Coquitlam members in growing union strength across the company.
