Cannabis workers at Tokyo Smoke join the union – UFCW 1006A
Thunder Bay, Ont. – May 3, 2022 – Cannabis workers at two Tokyo Smoke locations in Thunder Bay, Ontario are the newest members to join UFCW 1006A after securing a successful certification vote.
“This is an exciting time for cannabis workers across Ontario, as they continue to improve their workplace and industry through union representation,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “We are thrilled to welcome the newest members from Tokyo Smoke and we congratulate them on the victory.”
The new bargaining unit comprises nearly 20 staff members who work as educators, helping customers familiarize themselves with cannabis products. Workers joined the union to address wages, scheduling, and job security.
