Young-Workers Internship Program returns to in-person learning
Toronto – June 13, 2022 – The nation’s leading program for young labour activists – the UFCW Canada Young-Workers Internship Program (YIP) – recently made its return to an in-person format after two years of virtual learning due to pandemic restrictions.
Over a dozen UFCW Canada young worker activists from across Ontario and the Atlantic region converged in Toronto for a week of learning and movement building. Together, the participants explored topics ranging from labour history to the importance of unions, politics, and the media.
"YIP has definitely been an eye-opener for me," says UFCW Local 12R24 member Anthony Stott. "Coming into the program, I did not know what to expect, but by the end of the session, I have gained valuable knowledge about my union and learned about ways to get involved."
The next session of the 2022 UFCW Canada Young-Workers Internship Program will take place in Winnipeg from June 19 to 24.
