Hospitality workers at Courtyard Marriott join the union – UFCW 175 & 633
Vaughan, Ont. – August 5, 2022 – Workers at the Courtyard Marriott are celebrating an organizing victory after a successful certification vote to join UFCW 175 & 633 was concluded in early June.
“Workers in the hospitality industry have been through many ups and downs in the last few years,” says UFCW 175 President Shawn Haggerty. “As union members they can now work toward ensuring better job security, competitive wages and better working conditions.”
Third time is a charm for these workers who were unsuccessful twice before securing this most recent victory. The new bargaining unit consists of 25 full-time employees in housekeeping, maintenance, restaurant, and laundry departments.
