Members at Dare Foods ratify first contract – UFCW 175 & 633
Cambridge, Ont. – September 15, 2022 – After successfully organizing the food processing facility earlier in the year, members at Dare Foods in Cambridge, Ontario recently secured a first contract that provides substantial increases to wages, benefits and union security.
Upon ratification the new three-year contract will see an across the board increase to wages by $2.00 per hour, in addition to a .50 cent increase on January 1, 2024, to go alongside a $3,000 lump sum payment. Pensions will be matched at 4 percent of contributions in 2023 and 5 percent in 2024.
Benefit costs will be 60 percent covered by the employer in 2023 and 70 percent covered in 2024, in addition to two added float days, $250 tool allowance, an agreement on monthly Labour Management meetings, along with an agreement that all agency workers be converted to full-time bargaining unit members.
