Grocery workers at UBC Campus Grocery join the union – UFCW 1518

Vancouver – December 9, 2022 – Student-workers at Grocery Checkout on UBC Campus are the newest members to join UFCW 1518 after the BC Labour Board confirmed their successful organizing drive earlier in the month.

The new members joined forces to take on the company and resurrect the community-focused business model – by students, for students – that has endured since its inception.

Workers organized to secure better compensation under a backdrop of soaring tuition and cost-of-living. The new members will be looking to prioritize guaranteed hours, in-store discounts and a ban on non-student hiring come negotiations.
