Social service workers at Epic Opportunities join the union – UFCW 832

Winnipeg – February 20, 2023 – Social service workers at Epic Opportunities are celebrating an organizing victory months in the making after the Manitoba Labour Board settled disputes over bargaining unit scope welcoming the new group of workers to UFCW 832.

“We thank these new members for speaking out and recognizing that unions can work for everyone,” says UFCW 832 President Jeff Traeger. “We have represented support workers at Epic Opportunities for nearly 30 years and we are proud to now work with this new group to bargain a first contract.”

These workers join an already established bargaining unit of Direct Support Professionals who assist people living with disabilities. The new members work as Senior Managers, SIL Managers and Day Service Senior Managers and are seeking a stronger voice to deal with dignity, respect and increased workloads on the job.
