Renewed collective agreement for Hector Larrivée distributor union members — UFCW 501

Budtenders at Canna Cabana join the union – UFCW 175 & 633Montreal – June 26, 2023 – The United Food and Commercial Workers Union, Local 501 (UFCW 501), is proud to announce the successful renewal of a 4-year collective agreement with fresh produce distributor Hector Larrivée. This new agreement brings significant improvements for union members, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to defending their rights and interests.

UFCW 501 is delighted with this renewal of its collective agreement, which is the result of in-depth and constructive discussions between union representatives and the employer. "We remain committed to defending the rights and interests of our members, promoting fair working conditions and contributing to the improvement of working conditions in the food industry as a whole," says UFCW 501 President, Alain Lachaîne.

The renewal of this 4-year collective agreement is a crucial step in our mission to guarantee fair and satisfactory working conditions for workers in the food industry. The agreement provides for a substantial salary increase of 7% upon signature, followed by further increases in subsequent years as follows: 3.5% in 2024, 3% in 2025 and 2.5% in 2026.

In addition, we are pleased to announce that bonuses have also been increased. Trainers' bonuses have been doubled from $1 to $2 per hour worked, and evening and freezer bonuses have been increased. In addition, this renewal of the collective agreement has also led to significant improvements in other normative areas. Adjustments have been made to discipline, vacation ratios and grievance procedures, to create a fairer and more transparent working environment for our members in machinist, inspection and material handling positions.

UFCW Local 501 represents 19,000 union members working in over 410 companies in Quebec and northern New Brunswick. To find out more about UFCW Local 501 and its remarkable work, visit its website.
