Organic grocery workers join the union – UFCW 1006A
Toronto – July 5, 2023 – Grocery workers from the Organic Garage in the Junction neighbourhood of Toronto have voted to join the UFCW 1006A family.
“UFCW 1006A has a strong record of helping grocery workers across Ontario achieve fairness at work and improve their rights and livelihoods,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “We are proud to congratulate and welcome our newest members from Organic Garage to the union family. The members' determination and unity in winning union representation was truly inspiring.”
The new bargaining unit has 20 workers who work in a wide variety of roles, including cashier, grocery clerk and produce clerk. Key issues included working conditions, compensation and scheduling.
