Salvation Army NRO achieve new contract – UFCW 1400
Saskatoon, Sask. – July 7, 2023 – UFCW Canada Local 1400 members working at Salvation Army National Recycling Operations (NRO) have recently ratified a new five-year agreement that removes a two-tier system, brings wage increases, and more.
The workers at the two Salvation Army National Recycling Operations Thrift Store locations in both Saskatoon and Regina handle intake and reselling of community donations.
The new agreement features the elimination of the second tier as well as wage increases totaling 13%. In addition, members will receive additional lump sum payments upon ratification and in years three, four, and five.
Other highlights of the contract include improvements to vacation entitlement, the addition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a recognized statutory holiday, and additional improvements to contract language.
